Nose Bleed: Why is it common in cold & dry seasons?

Learn the first aid, causes & prevention

Why is nose bleed more common in cold, dry seasons? We asked Dr. Michael Ong, MD of Suntec Medical Center, Shanghai and the dad co-founder of Bebebalm natural skin rescue. "In winter, the dry air & indoor heating leave the skin in the nose dry, brittle. and prone to cracking. The constant blowing of the nose, or nose picking may also lead to nose bleed. There are other causes for nose bleed. If it keeps recurring, better have it checked by your doctor."

The first aid for nose bleed is simple. Use your forefinger and thumb to pinch the nose for 5-10 minutes or until blood clots.
